the return to the jetty

i was so glad to go fishing again! :)

i always wanted to go fishing. luckily i have my own friend, basyar, a frequent fisher ethusiast himself, to tag along with me anytime i would want to 'turun'(bruneian term for 'going fishing', learn it and remember it!).

it started off as a small idea between Basyar and me but it turned out to be a big one. Metis, Danny and Sadik (Katip) wanted to come along with us.

hey, what can i do? if they want to come, please. i have no objections. i even will encourage each and everyone of the others to come too.

fishing is not a just an activity, it is a part of life for some! for me, my addiction level for fishing is just below the borderline of 'abusive'. some will even forget about the amount of time consumed when they go fish. its even harder to pack up and go home if you already got high up the fishing vibe! i tell you. its true.

dont you even dare say fishing is for sissies. its more fun than just chilling out at a cafe, going to the movies, playing golf, going to the communist to buy fake cd's and watch chelsea play every weekend. while fishing, you can gain more outdoor experience. vital for your knowledge! and in the future, it will be very handy for you instead of just sitting there in a cafe, going to the movies to watch speed racer, playing golf with tiger woods, going to the communist to buy a smugged weapon, and of course watching chelsea drawing games every single weekend... aaa

so back to what we were doing last night. i picked up all of the four stoogies friends and a cousin of mine. then we bought some 'umpans' (baits) at kianggeh, and they were shrimps. did you know they come in 3 different sizes? small, medium, king. huhuh.

after buying the bait, we head straight to kg sungai besar! well-known for its beautiful location (its located right infront of the legendary pulau chermin) and a level 6 fishing area, on a scale from 1-10, a location with the scale of 1 is the easiest to catch a fish.

the 3 amateurs Sadik, Metis and Danny learned quickly on how to throw the line and fixing the bait on the hook. but they havent master the skills on how to fight a fish and tying a fishing knot excluding danny who i personally taught to tie an albright knot. congratulations danny'! you're a better fisherman than them two!

well, we spent at least a good 6 hours on that particular sg.besar jetty. the weather was excellent i tell you. the moon was almost at its fullest as it dims up the open water with grace. such a beautiful sight. the sky was dark clear. we cant see the stars as the haze was covering the atmosphere. luckily the smoke was not that low near the surface, so we could breath easily. the only bad thing was that it was kinda hot.

the three amateurs were being so amateurish last night. they were trully amateurs at work. they(the three of them at once) were outsmarted by a shrimp, got butt-kicked by the shrimps, let some shrimps escaped (so severe, basyar and me had to get another batch of dead shrimps from kianggeh specially for them as they seemed afraid of live shrimps), metis lost my jingle bell and he made me cut off 2 metres of my fishing line because he fucked it up, badly. its ok bro. its just 2 metres of line. i have another 30 in the reel.

well, amazing things happened too. one of them was when metis were stunned by the sight of the curious giant bats that flew above us. mind you, their wing span is about 5 metres wide. so you have to respect them seriously. they're big. and have a fierce reputation of their own.

well, there was also an incident that made us all freaked out. metis's rod mysteriously reeled itself up and lied itself comfortably on the jetty pathway away from the edges. the last time he remember, metis had the line casted to the water, and its impossible for anything or anyone to reel the line in unless touching the spull and then pedal the lever. it was freaky though. and scary! that incident happened approximately 3 a.m as we heard dogs barking and whaling from afar. huhu. menggilaaaii!~

well, we packed up aroud 4 a.m after we finish up all the baits. we didnt caught any fish except basyar's small sea molusk, metis's plastic bag and a leaf, katip got another plastic bag, i got a something that looks like a rubbish while danial got nothing at all!

all of our baits disappeared and i suspect it was the crabs. hey, we felt like feeding the fishes and the crabs instead of fishing. amidst all of these, you cannot take away the quality social time we had, being together, having a good conversation, learning new things while enjoying the pleasures and the mystery of the night. i love fishing. :)

to all of you who wants to go fishing. please, try it. it'll be quite an amazing experience than you expected.

i want to go fishing lagi..... :(
